TANZANIA NATIONAL PARKS

SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Is the one of the national parks that found in Tanzania, the park established during the early of 19900s the German colonist drew up legislation to protect the area but then world war 1 broke out. The British took over and in 1929 area around Seronera was declared a game reserve in 1935 the hunting of lions in the Seronera Valley was stopped and in 1951 the Serengeti National Park ( which include the Ngorongoro Conservation Area) was established. In 1957 Professor Bernard Grzimenk and his son, Michael, started doing the first aerial counts and in 1959 the park was divided into the Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The Lamai Wedge, situated between the Mara River and the Kenya border, was added to compensate for the loss and the maasai were moved to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. In 1981 the Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, was declare an International Biosphere Reserve.

How to Get to Serengeti National Park by Bus
Serengeti sits at a distance of 335kms from Arusha and can be accessed by safari coaches which could offer an extremely rewarding experience for travelers keen on sightseeing. The road trip to the heartland of Serengeti includes some fabulous attractions such as the Lake Manyara National Park, Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area and the picturesque Naabi Hills that descend as you arrive at the plains.

Where to stay at Serengeti
Camping there are mainly two public camp site in the Serengeti, one at Seronera and one at lobo, for the tourist to enjoy the nature of Serengeti National Park.
Lodges-there are a lot of lodges that found at Serengeti like Seronera wildlife lodge, Serengeti Serena lodge, Serengeti Sopa lodge and a lot of campsite.
Attractions that found at Serengeti
  1. Animals
    Some of 135 species of mammals have been recorded in the Serengeti, of which 20 are bats an 26 are mice, rats and gerbils. There 22 antelope species of which the blue Duiker, Greater Kudu, Lesser Kudu, Mountain Reedbuck, l Roan and Fringe-eared Oryx are very rare. Wildebeetst and zebra are the most numerals. Black rhinos are very rare but have been  re-introduced Moru Kopjes area where they are protected, Elephant numbers have been severely affect poachers but they are often seen at Seronera and lobo. Hippos and crocodiles occur in the rivers and buffalo, reed buck and water buck near permanent water. The predators of the Serengeti are main attraction, lions and hyenas being the most common. Monkeys, baboons and hyraxes can be seen on the kopjes. Hunting dogs are rarely seen today
